Smith Currie's Washington, DC office is located in the heart of downtown at the corner of K Street and 18th Street, NW, just blocks away from the White House.  From its founding, the firm has had a robust practice related to Federal Government contracts, especially federal construction contracts.  The firm’s Washington, DC office is a natural outgrowth of this important practice area. To further expand this practice area, the attorneys of Saltman & Stevens merged with Smith Currie & Hancock on January 1, 2012.

Collectively, the attorneys associated with the DC office have over 200 years of experience handling in all areas of federal government contracting.

Prior to entering private practice, Alan Saltman was an Attorney – Advisor at the Government Accountability Office.  Steve Reed served for 18 years as an Administrative Judge and Hearing Examiner with the Corps of Engineers and the Armed Services Boards of Contract Appeals.  Rick Goeken, for the past 15 years, has focused his practice on federal contracts for natural resources, access to federal lands, and compliance with federal environmental rules.  Charles Surasky specializes in the trial and arbitration of complex construction disputes involving both private and government construction contracts.  These attorneys, in addition to the associates and Of Counsel attorneys in the Smith, Currie & Hancock Washington office and others throughout the firm, provide unparalleled experience in the federal government arena.
