Kent P. SmithPartner
KENT P. SMITH has been practicing construction law full-time since 1968. He obtained his law degree cum laude at Washburn University in 1966, where he was on the Washburn Law Journal Editorial Board, and in 1992 he was named the University's first Alumni Fellow in Law. Mr. Smith served as a law clerk to Judge Delmas C. Hill of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, then as attorney for the United States Atomic Energy Commission. A member of the Georgia and Kansas Bars, Mr. Smith is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Claims Court and the Fourth, Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Federal U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal. He has lectured on various construction law topics for the Federal Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Practicing Law Institute, Emory University, Hamline University, the University of Wisconsin , and other educational institutions and organizations. He was a guest lecturer at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he taught Legal Aspects of Architecture, Engineering and Contracting.
