Lenny N. OrtizAssociate

LENNY N. ORTIZ, an associate in Smith, Currie & Hancock’s Fort Lauderdale office, is active in the firm’s construction and commercial litigation practice groups.  He is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar.  Lenny has extensive experience in the area of contracts, in addition to construction liens and bonds, and has advised and represented clients at every phase of the construction process.

Lenny is currently Vice-Chair of the Broward County Bar Association Construction Law Committee and an active member of the Florida Bar Construction Law Committee.  Lenny has lectured on various construction industry topics including AIA contracts, construction defects, and subcontractor/contractor relationships.

Prior to joining the firm, Lenny served as a Staff Attorney at the Florida Supreme Court in Tallahassee, Florida, from 2001-2002. From 2002-2005, he was an associate at Leiby, Taylor, Stearns, Linkhorst & Roberts, P.A., in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he also focused on construction law.

Lenny received his Juris Doctorate in 2001 from Florida State University, where he was a member of the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law.  He also served as a judicial intern at the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court in Broward County, Florida.  He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University, Miami, Florida in 1998.
