Lenny N. OrtizAssociate

LENNY N. ORTIZ is an associate in the Ft. Lauderdale office of Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University, Miami, Florida in 1988. 

He attended law school at Florida State University and received his Juris Doctorate in 2001. He was a member of the Moot Court Team and served as the Moot Court Team Editorial Co-Chair from 2000-2001.  He was also a member of the Journal of Land Use and Environmenal Law.  During law school, he served as a judicial intern at the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court in Broward County, Florida . 

Upon being admitted to the Florida Bar, Lenny served as a Staff Atorney at the Florida Supreme Court in Tallahassee, Florida , from 2001-2002.  From 2002-2005, Lenny was an associate at Leiby, Taylor, Stearns, Linkhorst & Roberts, P.A., in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he gained experience in the areas of construction liens, construction bonds, and contracts.  Since joining Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP, Lenny has been active in the firm's construction and commercial litigation practice groups.

Lenny is currently an active member of the Florida Bar Construction Law Committee and Broward County Bar Association Construction Law Committee.  In 2005 he conducted a seminar on construction contracts for Lorman Education Services.
