John E. Menechino, Jr.Partner
JOHN E. MENECHINO, JR. is a partner concentrating in the areas of construction and surety law and litigation. Mr. Menechino represents a broad range of clients in the private construction industry including general contractors, sureties, owners, subcontractors, suppliers, fabricators, design professionals and construction managers, in all types of construction disputes. He has helped clients resolve disputes involving prisons, hospitals, schools, military bases, dams and major civil works projects. Just recently, Mr. Menechino assisted one of the firm's general contractor clients in obtaining over $26,000,000 in settlement of claims arising out of the client's construction of a Federal Bureau of Prisons' high rise detention center in downtown Miami .
Mr. Menechino also concentrates in federal, state and local construction, supply and services contracting, and represents contractors and sureties in government contract matters such as bid protests and mistakes, claims, appeals, small business size protests and certifications, payment and performance bond disputes and suspensions and debarments. He has worked on claim litigation and arbitration involving many federal agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Coast Guard, the Veteran's Administration and numerous other public concerns.
Mr. Menechino received his undergraduate (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and law degrees from the University of South Carolina, and is a member of the ABA 's Forum Committee on the Construction Industry, Tort and Insurance Practice Section (Fidelity and Surety Law Committee) and Public Contract Law Section. He is a lecturer on construction law and is a contributing author of Construction Subcontracting: A Legal Guide for Industry Professionals (John Wiley & Sons, 1991) and Alternative Clauses to Standard Construction Contracts (John Wiley & Sons, 1992).
