David Charles King (David) is an associate in the Atlanta law firm of Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP and a member of the firm's construction litigation and government contracts departments.
David is a native of Lafayette, Georgia, and received his undergraduate education from Maryville College , where he graduated suma cum laude in 1993 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Management. While at Maryville, David was President of the Student Government Association and active in several other school organizations, including his position as a wide receiver on the Maryville College football team.
After graduating from Maryville, David attended the University of Georgia School of Law in Athens where he graduated cum laude in 1996. While at Georgia , David was an articles editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law, and also participated in several moot court and mock trial competitions.
Prior to joining Smith, Currie & Hancock, LLP, David practiced at the firm of Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers where he gained valuable and extensive experience in the areas of construction litigation, dispute avoidance and property insurance litigation. Since joining Smith, Currie & Hancock, LLP in November of 2006, David has been active in the firm's construction, government contracts, and commercial litigation practice groups.
In his 10 years of practice, David has represented numerous owners, developers, contractors, and design professionals in numerous complex commercial litigation and arbitration disputes, as well as assisting those same clients in the negotiation and drafting of construction and real estate contracts. David also has extensive experience representing insurers and insureds in various insurance matters.
David has written several articles and lectured on numerous insurance and construction topics. He is also currently a member of the governing board of the State Bar of Georgia's Tort and Insurance Practice Section.
