REGGIE JONES is a Partner in the Atlanta office of Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP.  Reggie has a national construction and government contracts practice, which includes assisting clients with risk management, claims avoidance, the preparation and negotiation of front end contract documents, practical construction project documentation and the resolution of both public and private construction and construction-related claims.  He has successfully represented owners, construction managers, architects, engineers, EPC contractors, general contractors, subcontractors, sureties and professional liability carriers in federal and state courts, the various boards of contract appeals, arbitration and mediation.  He has represented clients on projects such as levees, airports, convention centers, casinos, hotels, museums, FBI field headquarters, power, petrochemical and process plants, water filtration and water treatment plants and highway and bridge construction.  He has extensive experience in federal, state and local bid protests, challenging federal terminations for default, surety bond (payment and performance bond) and subcontractor default insurance policy issues as well as coverage issues arising under builder's risk, comprehensive general liability insurance and E&O policies.  Reggie is licensed to practice law in Georgia, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

As one of his primary areas of interest, Reggie has concentrated on the law of delay, acceleration and inefficiency claims.  In 2001, he published an article entitled Lost Productivity: Claims for the Cumulative Impact of Multiple Change Orders, in the American Bar Association's Public Contract Law Journal.   In 2003, he published an article entitled Update on Proving & Pricing Inefficiency Claims in the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry's The Construction Lawyer.   In 2004, Reggie published an article in The Procurement Lawyer on the Eichleay formula, which analyzes the current state of the law with respect to unabsorbed home office overhead.  Reggie has taught numerous seminars in Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco and Atlanta for Federal Publications Seminars, LLC, CMAA, AACE, the annual Construction Superconference, CLE International, the Georgia Institute of Technology and Southern Polytechnic Institute.

Reggie received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William & Mary in 1991.  After college, Reggie served nearly five years on active duty in the United States Army.  He spent the first half of his tour as a tank platoon leader in the First Armored Division in Mannheim, Germany .  During the second half of his tour, he served as a Logistical Operations Officer in the 28th Transportation Battalion with the last six months spent in Hungary, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.  Reggie received his law degree cum laude from the University of Georgia .  While attending the University of Georgia , Reggie was on the Editorial Board of the Georgia Law Review

Reggie was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia .  He is married and has two sons.  In 2005, he was recognized for his pro bono work as the owner's representative during the renovation of the International Women's House, a battered women's shelter that focuses on the needs of the refugee and immigrant community in the Atlanta metropolitan community.  International Women's House recognized him as Board Member of the Year in 2007 and he now serves as the Chair-Elect of the Board of Directors.  Reggie is an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. and is also active in U.S. Masters Swimming and USA Triathlon.
