J. William EbertResident Partner

J. WILLIAM EBERT is the resident partner of the newly opened Las Vegas office of Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP.  He has extensive experience in many phases of civil litigation including insurance defense, insurance coverage, bad faith, third-party liability, self-insured defense, commercial and environmental litigation.  He has tried more than 50 jury trials to verdict. 

His prior experience includes serving as a partner with the firm of Vargas & Bartlett, in its Reno office.  He opened his own practice in 1997, and in March, 2006, joined Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP.

He received his B.S. in biology from the University of Utah in 1976, and his J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law in 1980.  Mr. Ebert is a member of the Clark County Bar, State Bar of Nevada, and the Utah State Bar (inactive), and has been admitted to the Bars of the United States District Courts for Utah and Nevada, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States .
